Tamiya Lacquer Paint (LP Series) is a high-quality, fast-drying lacquer paint designed specifically for scale models. Each color is formulated using fine pigments to produce a smooth, durable, and professional finish. Tamiya LP paints offer excellent adhesion, strong coverage, and superior hardness compared to acrylic paints.
The paint features:
● High durability – resists scratches and handling
● Fast drying time
● Smooth, even coating with minimal brush marks
● Strong adhesion to plastic, resin, metal, and primer
● Wide range of accurate military, automotive, and clear colors
Available in 10ml bottles with a wide variety of colors, metallics, clears, and military tones.
Application (How to Use):
1. Airbrushing
● Thin with Tamiya Lacquer Thinner (Yellow Cap) or Retarder Type
● Recommended thinning ratio: 1:1 to 1:1.5
● Spray pressure: 12–18 PSI
● Produces the best finish for:
○ Cars (gloss colors)
○ Aircraft (military tones)
○ Tanks and armor
○ Metallic finishes
2. Hand Brushing
● Can be brushed, but best results come from airbrushing
● Use Tamiya Retarder Thinner to reduce brush marks
3. Clear Coats
● LP-9, LP-24, LP-106, LP-107 provide:
○ Gloss clear
○ Semi-gloss
○ Flat clear
● Safe to apply over most lacquer and acrylic paints
4. Base Coating
Works as an excellent base before applying:
● Tamiya Enamel paints
● Tamiya Acrylic paints
● Decals & panel line washes
5. Surfaces
Suitable for:
● Plastic models (PS, ABS)
● Resin parts
● Photo-etched metal parts (prime first)
● 3D-printed resin
