-Fokienia hodginsii is called many names. Fujian Cypress, Siam Wood, Fokienia Cypress, Bois de Siam, Peimou, Pe mou or Po mu. Some claim Hiba wood is more accurate but Hinoki wood is used more commonly especially in Thailand. It is a member of the Cupressaceae or Cypress family but the oil has the beautiful aroma, very Complex, Rich, and Woody with a hint of sweetness, yet missing most of the less desired perfumery notes of cedarwood oils. It is wonderful meditation blend for regaining a new positive thinking.
-The wood is preferred for its longevity & aroma. This species has a very strong ability to repel insects, especially insects normally attracted to wood such as termites and is resistant to fungus, mildew and decay. The essential oil also has insecticidal and antifungal properties. It has the pleasant aroma of a cedar chest perfect for home, storage areas, closets, bathrooms and other damp areas to keep insects away help prevent mildew.
-The oil has anti-inflammatory qualities useful for a sports rub, aching joints or other skin inflammations. The aroma makes it a wonderful addition to masculine massage blends
-Hinoki wood Lao grows mainly in China and bordering regions of Vietnam and Laos. China has the most grown outside Laos. Vietnam limited availability and harvesting is strongly regulated. In Laos and China, the timber is not considered endangered but harvesting is still regulated. Regardless, no trees are cut for the sole purpose of manufacturing essential oil. It is a byproduct of woodworking made from stumps, left over wood shavings and saw dust.
-Note: Not for internal use. Most essential oils cannot be taken internally, but even when they can, essential oils are highly concentrated and require dilution, special training and caution that Aroma & More does not yet provide. You can never drink any essential oils at 100% strength or diluted in water-based liquids.
